Cloud is a fizz these days with every second person talking about it and the revolution it has brought in IT industry.A recent research done by IDC indicates the growth of Software Defined Networking (SDN) for the organization and cloud service provider. The prediction goes as high by 89 percent from 960 million dollars in 2014 to more than $8 billion in 2018 annually.

The growth has been attributed majorly to SDN Momentum Builds in Datacenter and Enterprise Networks, organizations need flexible networks.  These flexible networks help organization that wants to implement new solution such as cloud, mobility, big data and the Internet of Things.

The survey within the IDC research indicates 30 % of large companies have already moved to SDN or have planned in near future. From 2014 to 2016 the launch point for SDN will be significant. IDC suggest that SDN is taking Center Stage among innovative approaches particularly relating to virtualization and cloud computing.

With increased liking for SDN in the data center for cloud deployments, enterprise IT is increasing the value in potentially extending SDN to the WAN and into the campus to meet the demand for more agile approaches to network architecture, provisioning and operations.

Next two years are marked as an important launch point for SDN technologies in the organization. Some segments of industry are already in the moving their way to cloud. IDC further states that this prediction applies to physical infrastructure, network controllers and software virtualization, security services as well as professional services related to SDN. In addition, the demand for flexible networks to support big data and Internet of Things applications is also fueling the SDN market.
